What is a concrete floor with topping
The main and only advantage of floors from unprocessed concrete is their cheapness. They have much more disadvantages: low durable properties, significant abrasion, which in turn leads to gender gathering, limiting its use in production facilities requiring increased cleanliness, and in rooms where there is a high load on the floor. Concrete floors are unsafe in terms of sparking, it is undesirable to use where mineral oils, oil products, solvents, and acids are likely.
Improving their technical characteristics is carried out by various ways of hardening the base (dry way, and in a liquid way), as a result of which a layer of high -strength coating is formed on the surface, which makes up a single monolithic structure with the base. The most effective way to create a durable coating is to use topping, that is, hardening using dry concrete mixtures of a special composition used at the concrete stage.
Concrete floors with topping, in addition to increased strength, have additional advantages:
the surface is stabilized, which minimizes the appearance of potholes and chips;
the floor becomes sparkling and dissected,
its wear resistance increases;
Chemical stability increases significantly;
The service life is increasing.
With the help of dry surface hardening, you can give the floor an attractive appearance by making its surface mirror, granular or smooth, depending on the functional purpose of the room, and also greatly simplify the care of it. An additional advantage of this type of strengthening of the floors – a completely finished coating is obtained simultaneously with the installation of the base from concrete.
Topping contains high -class cement, mineral fillers and polymer additives. Sometimes coloring pigments are added to the hardening mixture. The quartz mineral filler is used for surfaces, to which average operational loads will be attached. For floors that need resistance to high loads, corundum filler is used. The filler made of special metal shavings (metal -fibers) is used for super -high loads, for example, in transport workshops with heavy equipment, or in metallurgical workshops.
